THE THIRD ANNUAL RIVER BOWL
ENTERPRISE - SHASTA
FRIENDLY RIVALS ~ THE RIVER BOWL
On February 19, 1993, Clay Erro was named the new Head Coach of the Enterprise High School Hornets, and on January 29, 1993, Lon McCasland was named the new Head Coach of the Shasta High School Wolves. These two men have been good friends for going on nineteen years, and have coached together for a great portion of that time. Now that they are friendly rivals it was only fitting that they would want to start an Annual River Bowl.
The River Bowl has been a positive rivalry between the two schools and is looked forward to by both teams. It ha also promoted a good positive image for both Enterprise and Shasta.
In the first River Bowl, the Enterprise High School Hornets were awarded the River Bowl trophy with the ending score being Enterprise 32 and Shasta 6. In the second annual River Bowl, Enterprise again successfully defeated the Shasta Wolves with a score of Enterprise 47 and Shasta 18. So I am sure that the Shasta Wolves are looking forward to this year for the opportunity to take the River Bowl trophy home with them. But of course the Hornets intend to do everything they can to see that this does not happen.
Three of the Enterprise High School players have had the opportunity to play in the first two River Bowls and will be starting for the Hornets tonight, Richey Clayton, Tee Coleman, & Ryan Kacalek. As these three players reflect on the first two games they had a little note to say:
~RYAN KACALEK
"I feel that the River Bowl is one of the best games to play in, it is one of the biggest rivalries that Enterprise High has and I look forward to seeing all of the alumni and fans of both teams there on Friday night. I would also like to say that as long as I am playing in this game I will do everything in my power to win and keep the team motivated."
~RICHE CLAYTON
"I look forward to this game every year because of the support and turn out of the fans. This year's game is very crucial to both teams because of the NAL championships. I also look forward to the River Bowl trophy staying at Enterprise again this year."
~TEE COLEMAN
"I look forward to this game because I feel it is a big cross-town rivalry. I also feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to have played in the first two River Bowls. I feel that playing in the first two games has helped me realize just how important these games have been to develop a positive rivalry between Enterprise and Shasta. I look forward to Friday nights game and I hope that the River Bowl trophy always stays at Enterprise."
"Enterprise High School, My School"
Tonight should be a very exciting game, with the Shasta players wanting to take the River Bowl trophy home for the first time and Enterprise not wanting to find something to fill the spot in the trophy case with anything but the River Bowl trophy. It should be a very exciting and memorable game.
GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS!
