Freshman Football Summary
The 1998 freshman football team had a very successful campaign, beginning with a lack of experience, but a wealth of enthusiasm. We got off to a somewhat shaky beginning, losing four of the five pre-season games. Defensively, we held our own with every one of the larger schools in the pre-league schedule, but had difficulty establishing any consistent offensive threat. We continued to have a positive attitude, even with the frustration of three consecutive losses.
Heading into the first league game against West Valley we came ready to play, practically shutting down the best freshman athlete in the entire section. Losing a close game to Foothill in the 4th quarter was heartbreaking, but a very positive learning experience. After this, we dominated our final three opponents by a score of 95-14 (including a 50-0 score against Anderson in the final contest).
This year freshman football team came a long way. We began the season an inexperienced, enthusiastic, group of athletes, and finished a confident, discipline, very physical, and successful football team, which will give itself many opportunities to win games, and championships, in the future.
